Thomas Rock
Thomas Rock in Big Bay is a great spot for a short hike boasting panoramic views of Lake Superior, lush forests, Big Bay, and on a clear day, the Keweenaw Peninsula. Thomas Rock is located about 30 miles from downtown Marquette. To get there, take County Road 550 north from Marquette for approximately 23 miles. Then turn left onto County Road 510, and in about a mile, the entrance will be on the right. This popular vista point is only minutes from downtown Big Bay.
You can park in the onsite lot and take a short, one-mile, ADA-accessible trail to the overlook. This trail is suitable for all ages and abilities, offering a leisurely stroll with rewarding views. Onsite toilets near the parking lot make it a convenient destination for families and individuals looking for a simple outdoor outing. Dogs are allowed as long as they are on a leash and picked up after.
